1st Viperlab SRIA Strategic Workshop!

H2020 project Viperlab organized successfully its first strategic workshop in September 2022 as a parallel event to WCPEC-8 conference in Milano, Italy.

For this workshop, we decided to focus on single-junction perovskite PV technology, and we set as a goal
to define a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for single-junction perovskite PV modules, starting from the recently published European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for Photovoltaics (EU-SRIA-PV) document by ETIP-PV and EERA-PV.
The approximate fifty attendees were mainly people belonging to the VIPERLAB stakeholder list, the VIPERLAB advisory board, the EERA-PV community, and the ETIP-PV community.
The program consisted of several introductory talks on the VIPERLAB project, the EU-SRIA-PV document, and the outcome of the recent VIPERLAB workshop on harmonization/standardization challenges for perovskites. These talks were then followed with some discussions on the content of the perovskite single junction module chapter of the EU-SRIA-PV. These discussions were held in parallel in three smaller groups.
The workshop resulted in some clear recommendations to improve the content of the chapter on single-junction perovskite PV modules of the EU-SRIA-PV document. In particular, we propose some changes to the Key Performance Indicators listed for 2030. All proposed additions and suggestions will be discussed within the EERA-PV and ETIP-PV organizations which took the lead in drafting the original EU-SRIA-PV.
It also became clear from this workshop that further work is needed to add a clear timeline and clear priorities to this EU-SRIA-PV document for perovskite module R&D and this will be the focus of further meetings and workshops initiated by the VIPERLAB consortium in the near future. We will discuss internally within the consortium how best to go about this
