Short Bio
Dr. Marco Montecchi: Master Degree in Physics in 1985 with a thesis on Virial Theorem (C. Bernardini). Skilled in outlining ad hoc experimental apparata, including physical modelling and software writing for acquisition and processing of experimental data. He has matured experience in the following fields:
- LASER: construction and use
- Optical fibre: characterization of doped fiber
- Nonlinear Optics: characterization of non linear materials
- Photothermal Deflection Spectroscopy (PDS): setting-up and use
- UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometry and Ellipsometry: setting-up of ad hoc instruments and use of commercial apparata
- Thin film optical characterization from spectrophotometric, ellipsometric and PDS measurements: development of original methods and kSEMAW software
- Optical characterization of anisotropic crystals (PWO and YAP)
- Measurement of radiation hardness and thermal ageing of components for high energy physic and space experiments
- Development of apparata for shape qualification of large reflectors for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plants (flat, spherical and linear parabolic)
- Development of methods and apparata for in situ verification of the optical alignment of parabolic-trough and dish CSP plants
- Outlining of an exhaustive method for evaluating the solar reflectance of mirrors: i) introduction of the concept of Sun Conic Reflectance; ii) outlining of the experimental apparatus Solar Mirror Qualification (SMQ); iii) outlining of an approximated method for modelling hemispherical reflectance and evaluating near-specular reflectance of CSP mirrors (SolarPACES Task III)
- Modelling of reflectance losses in soiled solar mirrors
Webinars
[1] - Took place on Jan, 11th 2024
The webinar offered by ENEA is devoted to the presentation of the kSEMAW software. kSEMAW is a useful tool for scientists and technicians dealing with optical devices based on optical coatings. More precisely, kSEMAW is a workspace for the analysis of Spectrophotometric (SP), Ellipsometric (ELI) and Photothermal Deflection Spectroscopy (PDS) measurements.
